BIRMINGHAM v HITMEN - PREVIEW

Tuesday August 14, 2018
BUXTON travel to play-off chasing Birmingham on Wednesday night in the Travel Plus National League at Perry Barr, 7.30pm.

The Hitmen have drafted in Danny Ayres as a guest for Ben Wilson who is unable to make the trip due to work commitments while Sam Woolley comes in at reserve for Kieron Douglas who is suffering from the effects of food poisoning.

The Brummies’ have been boosted by the news that Danyon Hume and Leon Flint are fit to resume their places in the side after missing the last few weeks due to injury and they will be looking to provide solid support for James Shanes and Tom Bacon who won the Golden Hammer meeting at Cradley on Monday night, with Callum Walker also returning from injury also completing the top five for the West Midlands outfit. Sheldon Davies and new signing Josh Embleton complete the Brummies’ line-up as they will be looking to get back to winning ways after failing to win in their last five outings four of which have been at home in which the last two have ended in draws. The two sides have already met in the National Trophy this season with the Brummies’ comfortably winning on both occasions.

Hitmen team manager Joshua Moss commented “We know it’s going to be a difficult task against Birmingham despite them being in the mist of a poor run of form, but they are stronger than of late with the return of Danny (Hume) and Leon (Flint) who are both exceptional riders and were on form before they were injured and that just happened to be when they hit the poor run they have had so the return of those two riders certainly makes them a lot stronger. Unfortunately, Ben Wilson cannot make the trip he is disappointed but unfortunately his employment comes first and we obviously accept that and we welcome Danny Ayres into the team who is more than a capable replacement for Ben and we will be doing our best and looking to at least equal if not better our score last time out at Perry Barr.”
