STOKE v HITMEN - PREVIEW

Friday May 18, 2018
BUXTON make the short trip down to Stoke for their National Trophy meeting against the Potters at Loomer Road on Saturday night, 7pm.

The Hitmen will be utilising the rider replacement rule to cover the absence of Connor Coles who is out injured and have switch David Wallinger to the number 5 race-jacket with Tom Woolley moving to number 4 to bolster the team in the latter stages of the meeting.

The visitors have four former Hitmen riders in their side starting with Max Clegg who linked up with the Potters as a late replacement for Luke Chessell who was injured during the close season. He is well supported by the evergreen Tony Atkin who skippers the Potters and the veteran has started the season well this year with Paul Burnett and Adam Extance who has missed the last couple of seasons’ due to injury returning to the sport. William O’Keefe joins local Stoke rider Joe Alcock at reserve for the Potters while Stoke are also expected to use rider replacement for Rob Shuttleworth.

Both sides have struggled early on this season and the Hitmen will be looking to gain something out of the meeting at Loomer Road with Hitmen boss Josh Moss commenting “I think it’s going to be a close encounter both tomorrow (Saturday) and again on Sunday at Hi-Edge. Hopefully all the boys can get their set-up dialled in quickly especially with Ben (Wilson) and David (Wallinger) being former Potters riders although it’s going to be difficult for Corban Pavitt on his first meeting back after all the crashes going up against some very experienced riders, but he has what it takes to mix it and that’s what keeps showing and I’m pretty sure that whoever’s reserves on the day score the most will probably win the meeting as I do feel that the reserves are going to be key in this weekends fixtures against the Potters.”
