HITMEN v EASTBOURNE, PREVIEW

Wednesday June 21, 2017
This Sunday at Hi Edge the Buxton Hitmen face another tough challenge when the high-flying Eastbourne Eagles come to the Dales.

The IT First Eagles have an unbeaten home record and recently snatched a draw at Birmingham. Once more the home side face tough opposition without a full-strength side as early season talisman Matt Williamson is unavailable.

Team boss Jason Pipe is aware that Sunday will be a tough ask but has an optimistic tone

‘Another tough meeting for us on Sunday, but if all the lads ride to their potential then there is no reason why we can't come away from this meeting with a positive result. However, we must ensure we get out of those starting blocks first and not give the opposite a head start and making it really difficult for ourselves. After the last home meeting, I had a word with a couple of our riders, who really should be scoring more points at home than they currently are and certainly should be winning certain races. I'll be looking for a positive reaction from them on race day. If we can get all the riders bikes set up from the start and not be giving big advantages away early on in meetings, then I do believe we'll start picking up some wins.’

Pipe believes he has a good replacement lined-up for Williamson ‘Unfortunately we are without Matt Williamson, who is on Championship duty and I've drafted in Kyle Bickley as a guest, he knows his way around our track. It's going to be a hard meeting, but one we are very capable of winning. Let's hope we clip those wings of the Eagles and send them home pointless and so I can enjoy the banter with Connor Dugard during the following week!’
