This National League affair at Hi Edge Raceway ended the way most pundits expected with a heavy win for the visitors.

Despite a spirited start by the home side which saw the first three heats shared the overwhelming strength of the Belle Vue Colts eventually shone through. Given that four of the Belle Vue side ply their trade at higher levels in the speedway pyramid even a full-strength Hitman seven would have struggled to live with the Manchester club’s strength in depth. Only Matt Williamson of the home side managed to achieve double figures winning four of his five rides however Williamson was lacking in support and the absence of the concussed Lee Dicken and Ellis Perks.

Following those three drawn heats the Visitors registered their first of 6 maximum heat victories most of which involved Dan Bewley or Lee Payne. The top scorer for the Colts was reserve Kyle Bickley who adapted well to the conditions and was only beaten once by a home rider on his way to 12 and 2 bonus points.

Following the meeting team boss Jason Pipe was struggling to find positives from the meeting ‘Matt Williamson was on the mark today as was Carl (Basford) scoring a creditable paid 7. Not making excuses but they had 4 riders that ride in the Championship and two of our lads were carrying injuries. That was not Tom (Woolley) out there today, he started well but his injury sustained last week and aggravated at Kent on Monday played a bigger part than we thought and Lee Geary shouldn’t really have ridden following his fall at Kent either but wanted to give it ago. Lee Dicken was also a big miss. We have 10 days to re-group before our next fixture at Birmingham’

Injury victim Geary was apologetic ‘ Apologies to my team mates, promotion and the fans for today. My shoulder wasn't up to it, which resulted in me not being able to race properly. I felt strong enough to ride prior to the meeting, but right from my first heat, it was clearly still not right. I now have 10 or so day gap to our next meeting so will rest up and come back fighting’

When pressed on the Ellis Perks’ absence Pipe was cautious ‘I see everywhere that we have fallen out with Ellis. I can confirm that is definitely not the case and we are working with him and the speedway authorities to achieve a satisfactory conclusion’
